Powder River and Wedding

A few photos of ruins, signage, and the Post Office in the Powder River country of Montana...wedding photos of Lauren, Ahren and parents. Congratulations to the happy couple and the exhausted parents! Angel and I certainly enjoyed the party as much as the kids did!

Montana and Alaska

Well...it's been a busy week since we returned from Montana. Angel is back to work this morning and I'm "putting food away" for the winter. The photos today are of food and fun....cabin and wedding rehearsal pictures from Montana, and raspberry-strawberry goodies from our garden. Also, as a bonus a few snaps of a coho salmon, alder smoked coho, and the cut up fish being glazed. My smoking recipe is simple....soy sauce, brown sugar, spices for the brine...let soak for 24 hours....place on racks to glaze for two to three hours (with fan)....smoke for 9-12 hours in Little Chief using alder chips....fill chip pans three to fours times . I then vacuum pack and freeze, or can using pressure canner.

More Fish etc.

While in Montana we managed to take a day to float the North Fork of the Flathead River with our friends Bill and Bev. It was as much fun as I remember from our younger days, but a bit more challenging as I attempted Kayaking for the first time. I managed to complete the float without dumping myself in the drink, so I guess I did okay. At the cabin, our nephew Kellen and his buddy Bryson caught some nice smallmouth bass and rainbow trout. Kellen caught his first trout on a fly, and boy was he excited! I spent a few days down in Miles City watching Bill and Bev's son Mat (our God son) compete in the MT State AA Legion Baseball tourney. He did a great job playing third and pitching relief. The Kalispell Lakers managed a third place finish, the best they had done in nearly thirty years! The early morning photo and salmon pics are from today. I had my two Silvers in less than thirty minutes using a yarn fly...fun!!

Home from Montana

We just returned from three weeks in Montana. Busy time with floating, baseball, sightseeing, and a wedding. I will post photos in the coming days and weeks. Right now, I'm busy fishing. It's Silver season in Alaska. I'm posting a few MT pics of the Powder River country and Custer Battelfield, as well as snaps of two Silvers I caught here yesterday.
