More Fly-In Photos From Valdez, Alaska

This is a three day event sponsored by the Valdez Pilots Association. No charge for entry. Plenty of food vendors and other goodies for sale. Activities for the kids. Airplane rides for a small fee. Bring warm clothes as it can be cool this time of the year. It was 38 degrees on Sunday morning. We stayed in a spacious cabin at the Totem Inn. It had a full kitchen, cable TV, and shower for $129. Dinner Saturday night was at the Halibut House. I had the halibut basket, salad bar, and drink. Angel had the scallop basket and salad bar. The bill was $33. Not too bad for fresh seafood. The Halibut House is not a fancy place...order and pickup at the counter. It's clean and the food is excellent. Other things to do in Valdez....fish for halibut and salmon....camp seaside or in the Valdez City Glacier Campground...visit the pipeline terminus.....tour Prince William Sound...take the ferry to Whittier....visit and hike Thompson Pass area...explore glaciers. Valdez Fly-In and Airshow

Angel and I spent the weekend in Valdez at the annual May Fly-in. If you are a small plane pilot, builder, or aviation enthusiast, this is the place to go. The setting is absolutely beautiful, the people friendly, and activities fun and varied. I'm just posting photos today, but will catch up later with more details. Highlights of interest to me were the STOL (short take-off and landing) competition and aerobatic performances. Enjoy!
